The purpose of the Indian Hill Recreation Commission is to provide recreational opportunities and athletic programs for residents of the Village of Indian Hill and the students of the Indian Hill School District.
History: On September 23, 1974, the Indian Hill Village Council adopted Resolution 14-74 and thereby established a Recreation Commission. Official status was necessitated by matters such as insurance liability, scheduling of facilities, policing, and fee collection. According to the resolution, the Recreation Commission would be composed of no less than 15 members who would serve terms of 3 years, except for initial members appointed; 2 members for 1 year, 3 members for 2 years, and 3 or more members for 3 years. (This would provide for continuity in the Commission's programs.) Members of the Commission were appointed by Village Council, and the Commission would remain under Council's control. By February 24, 1975, a new resolution expanded the maximum number of members to 30. Originally, only residents of the Village of Indian Hill were to be members of the Commission. In January of 2000, the Commission changed its Constitution as follows: "The Indian Hill Recreation Commission shall be comprised of no more than thirty members, who must be residents of the Village of Indian Hill or the Indian Hill School District."
The purpose of the Indian Hill Recreation Commission is to provide recreational opportunities and athletic programs for residents of the Village of Indian Hill and the students of the Indian Hill School District. If there is room in an individual program, Cincinnati Country Day students may participate since it is located within the boundaries of the Village of Indian Hill.
The goal of the recreational program is to encourage community spirit and friendship. The goals of the athletic programs are:

possible to participate,
To instruct players in the development of their
To build good character and encourage teamwork,
To develop and practice good sportsmanship,
To implement the principles of fair play,
To improve physical fitness,
And to have fun.
Coaches and support volunteers are recruited and selected with the understanding that they are expected to pursue these goals conscientiously and to endorse and abide by the IHRC Code of Ethics.

Recreation Program Coordinator:
Jack Alley, a 30+ year Village resident, currently serves in this capacity.
This hourly part-time position was created and funded by the Indian Hill Village Council to further aid the expanding programs and services provided by the IHRC. The supportive role this Coordinator plays is directed by the Officers and Program Chairpersons of the IHRC. Reporting to the City Manager, and with an office located at the Phinney House located next to the Administration Building, this person is assigned tasks that help implement the various program offerings. Those tasks include, but are not limited to:
serving as a liaison to the Indian Hill Service Department,
being a contact for Indian Hill Schools, sports leagues, and community organizations,
scheduling field use,
establishing communication about programs, sign-ups, and calendars,and representing the Commission in public forum
